Responses to the Helsinki traffic safety survey for 2020 and 2024, open in the autumn of each year. The 2020 survey was prepared by the City of Helsinki's Urban Environment Department. The 2024 survey was prepared by VTT, Forum Virium Helsinki and the City of Helsinki's Urban Environment Department.

The surveys were conducted using a map survey tool. They asked about traffic safety problems and locations where the respondent had been involved in an accident or near miss. They were also asked for their opinions on traffic safety in Helsinki and on measures to improve traffic safety.

The data obtained from the questionnaires consists of tabular data and point-based spatial data. The spatial data set is in the ETRS-GK25 coordinate system.

The responses have been used to develop the Road Safety Improvement Programme 2022-2026 and to improve road safety.
