Traffic safety survey for citizens of Helsinki

Responses to the Helsinki traffic safety survey 2020. The survey was aimed at the residents of Helsinki and was open from 1 to 27 September 2020.

The survey was conducted using a map survey tool. It asked, among other things, for opinions on traffic safety in Helsinki, on measures to improve traffic safety and on traffic offences and dangerous places in traffic, as well as on places where the defendant had had an accident or a near miss.

The data obtained through the survey consists of data in tables and a geographic dataset (shapefile). The geographic dataset is in the coordinate system ETRS-GK25.

The questions in the survey and the definitions of the geographic dataset can be found in this document (in Finnish). The key to the data in table format can be found in the “Selitteet” tab of the file.

The survey was conducted as part of the update of the traffic safety development programme for the years 2022–2025. The main objective of the development programme is to improve traffic safety in Helsinki. The work defines the vision, goals and focus areas for the city’s traffic safety work and programmes concrete measures for the coming years.
