This dataset contains results from a participant experience evaluation study of the Rantasalmi 2040 Delphi research. The study was conducted in September 2025 as a feedback survey (September 3-14, 2025), with 41 respondents out of 65 research panelists (response rate 63.1%).
The dataset analyzes the effectiveness of the argumentative Delphi method in strategic planning and citizen participation in a small municipality. The study evaluated participants’ experiences in a three-round Delphi process that addressed ten future theses about Rantasalmi’s development until 2040.
The research data consists of quantitative measures (Likert scale questions) and qualitative free comments. The dataset includes information about participants’ backgrounds, motivation, learning experiences, method evaluation, and future participation willingness.
A distinctive feature of the dataset is the analysis of 120 spontaneously generated action proposals, demonstrating participant activity beyond the traditional Delphi structure. The study provides valuable insights into the applicability of the Delphi method to the Finnish municipal context and challenges of digital participation.
Quality information: The study follows scientific standards in quantitative and qualitative analysis. The response rate (63.1%) is satisfactory, but the small sample size (n=41) limits the generalizability of results.
Limitations: The dataset represents only one small municipality and one type of Delphi application. Only in Finnish.
