A large Democracy Hackathon will be organised in Helsinki between 4-7 March 2016. The event joins together developers of new democracy enhancing tools and technologies. The weekend will start with a kick-off event on Friday 4th of March, following with hacking on Saturday and Sunday, and a wrap-up meeting on Monday 7th of March.
Democracy Hackathon Helsinki is a part of the International Open Data Day (5th of March). Open Data Day is a gathering of citizens in cities around the world to write applications, liberate data, create visualizations and publish analyses using open public data to show support for and encourage the adoption of open data policies by the world's local, regional and national governments.
