The content of open data guide has been expanded with internationally known best practices

The content of open data guide has been expanded with internationally known best practices concerning open data and the process of opening public sector information. Best practices created by Share-PSI thematic networ are based on the European Comission's Revised PSI Directive. Practices are aimed to support and harmonize the process of opening data in the public sector. They are defined on high-level to enable their implementation in actual national or local environments and designed to accelerate the enactment of the directive.

Finnish Ministry of Finance and Forum Virium Helsinki have actively worked with Share-PSI-network in the development process of best practices. Public and private sector bodies from different countries including several research organizations have contributed to this international project promoting open data. The knowledge of challenges and possibilities around open data has strengthened during the project and by that, twenty best practices have been defined. Practices concerning for example data quality, selection and recommended formats are described in their fully form on the Share-PSI webpage. Altough practices are now published, it must be noted that they can evolve and change over time as the knowledge of open data grows.

In the updated guide Finnish habits and principles regarding open data have been implemented in parallel with the international ones. As a result, the guide acts as comprehensive instruction document for all Finnish data openers.
